Gradient lenses
These lenses consist of a dark tint on the upper part and a lighter tint on the lower part.

Gradient lenses prove very useful in glasses used under variable lighting conditions.

Generally, if the upper part is category 3, the lower part is category 2 or 1.
Photochromic Lenses
Photochromic lenses are lenses that have a clear (or nearly transparent) appearance and darken depending on UV exposure.
Since UV rays pass through clouds, photochromic lenses darken both in cloudy and sunny conditions.
Photochromic lenses offer excellent protection for the eyes and are incredibly convenient, as they can be worn in any weather conditions.
Category 2 lenses
Category 2 lenses will be effective in medium sunlight situations (like in spring or autumn)
but are not sufficient for exposure to strong radiation (mountains, sea...).
